Overview (Spoilers Below):
Things come to a head as all chaos breaks out around Eagle. Can she be saved?
Our Take:
With Luna continuing her journey to rescue her demihuman friend, Kunai has also wound himself up in his own mission. In the previous episode, Kunai was tasked by Organ with a mission that’ll take him and his S-rank adventurer allies to new enemy territory. However, before we embark on that journey, there’s still a matter of rescuing the distraught Eagle from a fate worse than death.
The episode continues the season’s tradition of focusing more on its supporting characters than the protagonist himself, with Luna sharing most of the spotlight. Here, we see Luna attempting to reunite with Eagle by any means necessary, with her only obstacles being Brother Garcia’s Satanist cult and the Archpriest’s guardian angel. Fortunately, Kunai arrives at the last minute to finish off the Archpriest’s angel and dispel the curse placed on Eagle so she doesn’t have to worry about being around people ever again.
I’m still surprised at this show’s new direction for this season, with the supporting characters sharing most of the spotlight. While Kunai’s lack of screen time can irritate those who enjoyed him last season, focusing on his allies allowed the show to explore their character arcs further. Luna is the prime example of this, with her arc concluding with her reunification with her childhood friend. However, in regards to everything else, this is a pretty tame Luna-focused episode that fails to inject much emotion into its presentation, stakes, and unfitting music.
